Forest Products

IIC has participated in several forest products projects by providing construction services for auxiliary systems to both integrated and OCC paper making facilities as well as working in railroad cross-tie plants. IIC has been expanding its forest products division over the past few years as the paper industry begins to move back to the southeast. 
Republic Paper; Lawton, OK

  • Description: Performed multiple projects which include water reclamation, compressed air upgrade, and chemical process building and equipment

  • Project: IIC incorporated a state of the art water strainer/filter that enables a significant amount of process water to be reclaimed, dramatically reducing operating costs. This project included the installation of the filter, stainless steel piping construction, structural steel & platform modifications, as well as the installation of a new stainless steel water tank. Civil & structural engineering services were performed as well. Also, IIC modified the existing compressed air supply system to include new controls, new compressors, new dryers, and new stainless steel supply piping. Finally, IIC installed 2 new process buildings: one for the compressed air upgrade and one for the chemical process. Both buildings were designed by IIC, foundations were installed, buildings were erected, and equipment was set.

Boatright Railroad Products; Montevallo, AL

  • Description: Turn-key installation of railroad tie processing plants

  • Project: IIC participated in the upgrade of an existing wooden cross tie production facility in Montevallo, AL. Work was accomplished for the creosote high pressure cylinders, green tie drying area, and a new finish & storage facility. Also IIC erected a new cross tie production facility in Clanton, AL. The construction services for this project included site preparation, foundation installation, building erection, equipment setting, piping construction, electrical construction. In addition, IIC oversaw the installation of a new rail access spur that serves the new facility. Plant access roads, parking, and the office building construction were also part of the overall project.

International Paper; Prattville, AL

  • Description: Plant upgrades

  • Project: IIC replaced outdated wood chip conveyors with new air belt equipment. Civil, structural, and mechanical construction was required for foundation, bent erection, and equipment setting. This equipment was installed around on-going production, and integrated during a regularly scheduled outage.
